Understanding and managing student Learning Paths

The Learning Path within a user profile in the LMS outlines the courses and course lists assigned to a user. This guide will help you navigate and manage the Learning Path tab in a user profile.

Accessing the Learning Path

  1. Login to the LMS and start on the dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the left side panel and click on User List.
  3. Select a user by searching or filtering for the one you want to view or edit and clicking on their profile. 

Viewing Learning Path Details

  1. On the user's profile, click the Learning Path tab at the top.
  2. Review Assigned Course Lists, which displays under the List Name column along with type, status, the number of courses included, and reminders, if any.

Managing Course Lists and Courses

  1. In the actions column on the right, you have Options to set availability periods, reminders, add or remove course lists assigned to the user.

  2. To un-assign a course list:

    • Click the remove option.
    • Confirm the removal by clicking OK in the popup confirmation.

Assigning New Course Lists

  1. Select a course list to add from the drop-down menu under Select Course List.
  2. Choose a course list by clicking on it in the drop-down menu.
  3. Click Add Course List to allocate it to the user's learning path.

Rearranging and Setting Precedence in Learning Path

  1. Rearrange course lists by dragging them up or down using the course list selector in the List Name column.
  2. To set a course list as a prerequisite:
    • First verify in the LMS Account Settings that the option to "Allow full access after completing assigned courses" is enabled for the prerequisites to operate correctly.
    • Shift the required list to appear beneath another in the learning path.
    • Ensure it is slightly indented, indicating it is a prerequisite.

Saving and Notifying Changes

  1. After making adjustments, save changes by clicking the Save button at the bottom left corner of the page.
  2. Optionally, you can send a notification to the user to inform them about the changes in their learning path.

Group-Level Learning Paths

  • Understand that users can inherit learning paths through the groups they are assigned to, which may change their individual learning paths.
  • Group-level learning paths cannot be altered from within the Learning Path tab of a student profile.



By following these steps, you'll be able to effectively view, assign, adjust, and manage your users' learning paths in the LMS, ensuring they have access to the appropriate training and courses. Note that the features available may depend on your account or portal settings and the user's group assignments.
