Video Walkthrough
Let's review the Home Page of the KnowledgeCity LMS, also known as the LMS Dashboard.
The KnowledgeCity Learning Management System (LMS) is a powerful, user-friendly platform designed to streamline corporate and educational training. It offers a centralized solution for course management, user administration, and progress tracking, ensuring that organizations can deliver high-quality training with ease. With robust features such as automated reporting, certification management, and group-based learning assignments, the LMS provides administrators with the tools needed to monitor engagement and performance effectively. Customizable branding, flexible license management, and integrations make it adaptable to any organization’s needs, while intuitive dashboards and analytics provide real-time insights into user progress and training effectiveness.
The LMS is designed for administrators who manage, track, and customize the learning experience for their organization. Administrators have access to a wide range of tools for course creation, user management, reporting, and overall learning configuration.
On the other hand, the learning portal is specifically designed for learners to access and engage with their training content. The learning portal provides a user-friendly interface where individuals can view their assigned courses, track their progress, participate in quizzes, and earn certifications. While administrators configure and manage the LMS, learners interact with the portal to complete their courses and further their education. In this article we cover the LMS.
Dashboard & Overview
The KnowledgeCity LMS Home Page, also known as the dashboard, provides a comprehensive overview of student and group activity through key statistics, charts, and tables. The Group Statistics Table allows admins to monitor course progress and assigned license information for all student groups or filter by a specific group. This section displays total and available licenses, courses viewed, passed, or in progress, along with other essential data.
To the right of the Group Statistics Table, a User Status Pie Chart presents the distribution of active, inactive, and unlicensed users, offering a clear snapshot of student engagement. Additionally, a Login Activity Chart on the top-right of the dashboard tracks student logins per day, helping administrators analyze trends in platform usage.
At the bottom of the Home Page, a Progress by Group Bar Graph visualizes training progress across different student groups. This data enables admins to assess learner engagement and ensure that users are actively progressing through their courses. Together, these dashboard features provide a powerful tool for tracking LMS performance at both an individual and group level.
Quick Actions
The Quick Actions section, located near the top of the left-side panel menu, allows administrators to quickly create new Users, Course Lists, Learning Paths, Groups, and Reports. This feature streamlines administrative tasks, providing instant access to essential LMS functions.
User List
The User List displays all existing users in the LMS portal. Administrators can manage user profiles, update user information, and monitor student activity. This section ensures that user management is efficient and organized.
Import data
The Import data feature allows bulk user uploads using a list file or Microsoft Excel/CSV sheet. With just a few clicks, administrators can quickly add and update users and assign them to groups, making large-scale user management seamless.
User Groups
The User Groups feature enables the creation and management of student groups for customized assignments and progress tracking. This functionality allows administrators to tailor learning experiences based on group needs.
License Manager
The License Manager provides an overview of active subscriptions and available licenses. Admins can assign or rotate licenses to students as needed, ensuring efficient access to courses and resources.

Courses
The Courses page allows administrators to create and manage new custom course content. It also provides access to view Portal Courses, which are preloaded courses provided by KnowledgeCity.
Course List Manager
This tool helps in creating and organizing course lists comprised of individual courses. Course lists are collections of courses that are grouped together within the LMS. They simplify the process of managing training programs by allowing administrators to curate specific courses tailored to the needs of different groups or individuals. These course lists can subsequently be assigned to different student or group learning paths.
Course Feedback
The Course Feedback page allows administrators to collect and review student feedback on courses. It provides insights into learner satisfaction, course effectiveness, and areas for improvement. Feedback can be analyzed to enhance course content and overall training quality.
Question Bank
The Question Bank is a centralized repository for creating and managing question-and-answer templates used in course quizzes and certification tests. It allows administrators to store, organize, and reuse questions across multiple assessments, ensuring consistency and efficiency in quiz creation. This feature supports various question types, enabling customized and diverse evaluations for learners.
Class Events
The Class Events feature supports the creation of Online and Offline Classes within the LMS. Online events, also known as Webinars, allow students to join virtual meetings directly from the LMS without additional software.
Learning process
The Learning process page allows administrators to develop and structure learning paths, a set of courses to enhance the skills and knowledge of their team members. Acting as a tailored learning journey, Learning Paths guide learners through a series of courses and content that align with their development goals or job requirements. Here's how to create, edit, remove, and assign Learning Paths in the LMS. Learning paths are comprised of courses or course lists.
Curriculum
The Curriculum page provides an overview of available courses and tracks student progress. It also displays earned certificates for completed courses, offering insight into learner achievements. Course progress statistics and reports can be generated from Curriculum.
Certificate templates
The Certificate Templates feature enables administrators to create and customize certificates of completion for learners who finish their courses. Templates can be branded with logos, custom designs, and specific formatting, allowing organizations to personalize their certification process. Admins can upload their own certificate designs to replace the default KnowledgeCity certificate, ensuring consistency with their brand identity.
Notifications
The Notifications feature of the LMS acts as a centralized control center for managing notifications and reminders. It enables the creation of course or course list reminders and broadcast announcements, ensuring that users stay informed about their training schedules and other important information. Notifications can be sent to specific individuals, groups, or all LMS users and can be one-time or scheduled for recurring delivery.
Reports
The Reports feature generates detailed insights into user and group progress, course and quiz statistics, training hours, and incomplete courses. It supports both standard and customized reporting for in-depth analytics.
Category Manager
The Category Manager allows administrators to organize courses into structured, published categories within the LMS portal, making content more accessible and easier to navigate. It supports a hierarchy of parent and sub-categories, enabling a well-organized course catalog that aligns with various learning paths and subjects. Additionally, the Featured Courses section highlights selected courses for quick access, ensuring that key training materials are easily discoverable by learners from the portal homepage. This feature enhances the user experience by streamlining course discovery and promoting essential or recommended content.
LMS Admins
The LMS Admins page allows for the management of administrator privileges and permissions. Admins can customize access to specific features, restrict certain areas, and modify or remove administrator roles.
Access Requests
The Access Requests feature allows administrators to manage and approve user requests for access to specific courses, groups, or LMS resources. This ensures that learners can request enrollment in restricted content or higher-level training programs while giving admins full control over approvals and permissions.
Activity Log
The Activity Log tracks changes made within the LMS, logging updates made by users or administrators. This feature helps in auditing changes and maintaining system integrity.
Help/Settings
The Help button, located in the top-right corner of the LMS dashboard, provides access to tutorial articles and KnowledgeCity support. The Settings menu allows administrators to configure system-wide preferences.
Portal / Account / Form Settings
The Portal and Account Settings offer customization options for video playback behavior, automated email settings, password policies, and access schedules. Account Settings are categorized under the following tabs: General, Security, Users Management, Learning Process, and Access Schedules.
The Portal Settings allow for controls over the settings of the learning portal such as branding and Email Settings. The Branding Settings, found in Portal Settings, allow customization of the LMS portal’s look with custom colors, images, logos, and backgrounds.
The Custom Fields and Form Settings enable admins to modify or add forms for both the back-end and front-end of the LMS.
Go to Portal
The Go to Portal button opens the LMS portal front-end in a new tab, allowing easy navigation between the back-end administration panel and the user-facing interface.
Languages
The Language Selector enables users to switch the LMS interface to available languages, such as English or Spanish, for example, making the platform accessible to a diverse audience.
Administrators can select their profile menu drop-down in the top-right corner of the LMS to make changes to their own admin profile and logout of the LMS.
