Video Walkthrough

Let's explain the process of creating new Groups and Subgroups in the KnowledgeCity LMS.

Creating A New Group or Subgroup

Starting in the LMS Dashboard, let's navigate to the Quick Actions option in the top-left corner of the left-side panel.

After clicking on Quick Actions, we'll click the option for Add Group. Here we will see a pop-up window to create our new Group from the "Parent" drop-down menu.

If we are creating a Parent Group rather than a Subgroup, we will be selecting the option for "Without a parent", below in the drop-down selection.

Next, we can create a name for our new Group.
After setting a name for our new Group, we will click the Save option in the bottom-right corner of the popup window to create our new Parent Group.

After clicking the Save button for our new Group, we will be brought to the User Groups page. Here we can assign a Course List to the Group if we choose to.

Using the Learning Path tab, we can add Users to the Group. Using the "Add Users" tab, we can adjust our Group Settings, or we can create Access Schedules to limit our group's access to the LMS, depending on the time of day or week we are needing to restrict or provide access to the LMS, for example.

If we need to rename the Group that we've created, we can move button that says "Rename".

If we need to remove this Group, we can click the red button that reads "Delete Group"

If we need to send a message to all users that are a part of our Group, we can click the Send button right here to send that message to all users of the Group.

Managing User Groups

We can confirm for the hierarchy of our LMS grouping within the User Groups page of the LMS, to organize groups into Parent Groups or Subgroups, we can drag/move groups as needed.

The drop-down menu displaying the Group's name can be selected in the top-left corner of the page to quickly navigate to manage different groups.

Within the User Groups page, we can also view information on the Number of Users and Number of Subgroups for each group.
