How to Create and Configure a Class-Type Course for Offline Events in the KnowledgeCity LMS

Creating and managing offline events for your class type courses within KnowledgeCity LMS is straightforward. Follow this guide to schedule a class in a physical location and manage your class event effectively.

Step 1: Starting Your Course Creation

Access your LMS dashboard and head over to the Courses section in the left-hand panel.

  • On the Courses page, start by creating a unique course ID for your class course which will help you refer to or track the course in the future.
  • Enter your course name and then select Class Type Course from the Course Type dropdown menu.

Step 2: Course Details

Once you've selected the course type, you'll proceed to the Course Details page to complete various fields:

  • Thumbnail Image: Add a course preview image.
  • Instructor Name: Select an instructor or organizer from the dropdown list.
  • Skill Level: Set the course level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced).
  • You can also adjust the course name, add a tagline, a short description, and a full description.

Step 3: Save Your Course

After filling out all the necessary details:

  • Click the Save changes button at the bottom left corner.
  • Confirm the changes with the OK button in the pop-up window that indicates the course has been saved.

Step 4: Adding Course Files (Optional)

If you want to add supplemental files:

  • Navigate to the Course Files tab.
  • Here, you can upload media, images, videos, or PDF documents.

Step 5: Setting Up an Offline Event

To schedule an offline event:

  • Go to the Course Events tab and click the Add Event button.
  • Use the calendar icon to select a date and set the time for the event.
  • Specify the event's Capacity and ensure the Type of Event is set to offline.
  • Click Add to schedule your event which will initially show as unpublished.

Step 6: Editing Event Details

Click on the Edit option next to your event to:

  • Toggle the Publish switch to publish the event for student enrollment.
  • Input the event's Address or Location.
  • Select the instructor or organizer, set registration dates, and choose the approval type (automatic or manual).
  • Click Save to update the event details.

Step 7: Inviting Students

To invite students:

  • Click on List Users, then select Invite Users.
  • Choose students individually or by group using the dropdown menu and click Invite Users.
  • Add any additional comments and click Submit to send out the invitations.

Step 8: Tracking Attendance

After the event:

  • Go to the List of Attend tab to confirm who attended the class event.
  • Use the Attend or Miss options to tag students' attendance accordingly.
