      How to Use the Certificate Template Editor in the KnowledgeCity LMS

      KnowledgeCity LMS provides administrators with a certificate template editor feature that allows for creating custom certificates of completion. When students complete courses they generally earn a certificate of completion. This certificate can be customized if desired. Here are the steps and key features for using the Certificate templates feature.

      Using the Template Editor:

      Key Points

      • New custom certificate templates can be created and named.
      • Custom certificate templates can be applied to all courses, specific courses, or specific course types.
      • Custom certificate versions can be adjusted for specific languages.
      • Custom certificates can always be removed, reverting the default certificate of completion to the default KnowledgeCity branded certificate of completion.
      • The text of the certificate data fields can be customized for font, color, and horizontal alignment.
      • It is important to ensure your data fields have the ideal alignment and spacing to the background of your uploaded template asset, for the most optimal visual quality.

      Uploading and Selecting a Background Image:

      • Administrators can upload their background image of the certificate in PNG or JPG format with a maximum size of 4000x4000 px.
      • Previously uploaded images can be deleted from the general list of uploaded images.

      Adding Information Fields:

      • You can add information fields from different resources to the certificate:
        • First and Last Name
        • Position
        • Course ID
        • Course Title
        • Certificate ID
        • Date of issue with formatting options such as dd/mm/yyyy, mm/dd/yyyy, Day Month Year, Month Day Year, dd.mm.yyyy.

        Editing Data Fields:

        • The active data field is highlighted with a special frame.
        • Administrators can change the styling of text in the data fields, including fonts, text style (regular, bold, etc.), size, alignment, color, and opacity.
        • The field can be stretched in width, but the height cannot be changed.
        • Administrators have the ability to delete data fields or add new fields, if applicable.
        • The data field can be moved across the entire template workspace.

        Saving and Applying Templates:

        After customizing your certificate template, you can save the template and apply it to the LMS to replace the default KnowledgeCity branded certificates of completion.

        Tips and Considerations:

        • Ensure that the information fields do not overlap and that all text is clearly legible against the background image.
        • Make use of the styling options to match the fonts and colors to your organization's branding or the specific course theme.
        • Preview your certificate to ensure everything is in order before saving and applying it to a course completion.


        With the Certificate templates feature, LMS admins can give a personal touch to the certificates, enhancing the experience for the achievers and reflecting the brand of your organization or the unique nature of the course completed.
