How to Create and Manage Course Lists in KnowledgeCity LMS

Introduction

KnowledgeCity's Learning Management System (LMS) includes a useful feature known as the Course List Manager. This tool helps in creating and organizing course lists comprised of individual courses. These course lists can subsequently be assigned to different student or group learning paths. In this article, we will explain the concept of course lists and provide a step-by-step guide on how to create one within the KnowledgeCity LMS.

Understanding Course Lists

Course lists are collections of courses that are grouped together within the LMS. They simplify the process of managing training programs by allowing administrators to curate specific courses tailored to the needs of different groups or individuals.

Accessing Course List Manager

To access the Course List Manager, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the LMS Dashboard.
  2. Look for the Course List Manager in the left side panel of the LMS and click on it.

Once you have opened the Course List Manager, you will see all the available course lists within your portal. You can utilize the search bar to find specific course lists by their name or keywords.

Creating a New Course List

Here's how to create a new course list:

  1. Click on the 'Create Course List' button located in the top right corner of the Course List Manager page.
  2. This will take you to a new page to create your course list.
  3. Begin by naming your course list. For instance, "Tutorial Course List".
  4. If necessary, click the 'Translate' button under the Name field to add names for the course list in multiple languages.
  5. (Optional) Create a category for your course list if desired. This will publish your course list into the Category Manager as well.
  6. To add courses, move over to the 'Courses' dropdown selection and search for new courses to include in your course list. You can look up courses by title, keywords, or course ID.
  7. Add your desired courses to the course list.
  8. Once you have finalized the list, click 'Save Changes' in the bottom left corner to save your new course list to the Course List Manager.

Assigning Course Lists to Groups

After creating a course list, you have the option to assign it to all groups within your LMS:

  1. Click on 'Assign to All Groups' to make the course list available to all user groups.
  2. Return to the Course List Manager to see your course list with the courses added.

Editing and Removing Course Lists

If changes are needed or if you wish to delete a course list, here's what you can do:

  1. In the Course List Manager, find the course list you want to modify.
  2. Click on the 'Edit' button to make changes or the 'Remove' button to delete the course list.

Sorting the View of Course Lists

Course lists can be sorted in ascending or descending order by name or number of courses for better organization.

Managing Notifications and Reminders

With the new Course List Manager, course list notifications or reminders are created on the notifications page:

  1. Navigate from the Course List Manager to the 'Notifications' feature in the left side panel.
  2. Click 'Create Notification' in the top right corner.
  3. Choose the recipient to be specific to a course list and select the desired course list to create a notification for.
